Visual Displays of Learning

These two files are my PechaKucha presentations.
The first one is about Eurocentric schooling and possible changes we could make to make schooling more accessible to more people.  It reminds the reader about the problems of schooling and takes ideas from different cultures (the Maori and the Inuit) and I gives the reader/listener some idea about different forms of schooling that I have run into during my research.
The second one is about the history of schooling.  It goes through ideas from John Taylor Gatto, John Holt, and Ivan Illich who wrote about getting rid of schooling as it exists today.  I take that further and connect it to the residential school system, point out the problems with schooling and outline things that need to change.
These two together, I hope, point to a better future.
Enjoy!

This Residential School PowerPoint is part of a lesson plan I am submitting.  I have altered it but it has been created for a class I am teaching this year.  The resources at the end are not a bibliography but an extension designed to create critical thinking in students.
